studiok is a design and research studio, based in Italy and
founded in 2018 by Franziska Kramer.
The research of the studio focusses on the urban plot and on spatial configurations of city and landscape.
The design practice of studiok concentrates on spatial transformations of urban structures and the housing issue.
The topics of the projects are developed from the existing architectural and structural context.
Each project starts with a position on typology and context
with the aim to retell and reinterpret the existing.
Franziska was born in 1986 in Friesoythe.
She studied architecture at RWTH Aachen University,
where she graduated with honors in 2011. She was a student assistant at the Chair of Building Typology [Prof. Anne Julchen-Bernhardt/Prof. Meinrad Morger]. As an intern she worked for the architectural practice of Kuehn Malvezzi Architects in Berlin.
She worked for the chair of Theory of Architecture [Prof. Axel Sowa] organizing the international symposium Mies2011.
Franziska was part of the working group ADDITIV.
From 2012 to 2017 she worked as a teaching assistant
at the Department of Spatial Design with Prof. Uwe Schröder.
In 2012 she was a fellow at the Summer Academy of the
studiok opened in 2018.
Since 2018 Franziska is a PhD student at Politecnico di Bari with
Prof. Francesco Defilippis and Prof. Carlo Moccia. Since 2020 she is a PhD student at RWTH Aachen University with Prof. Uwe Schröder and Prof. Wim van den Bergh. Since 2020 she is a lecturer at RWTH Aachen University.
Franziska works and lives in Liguria, Italy.
