Research on the color of the extension of St. Benedictusberg by Dom Hans van der Laan

Publication project

The research for the project is an analysis about the relation of colour and space of Dom Hans van der Laan's extension of St. Benedictusberg in Vaals. The aim is an analysis of the material that has been used and a description of the correlation between atmosphere, proportion, typology, and color. Pointing out that van der Laans colleague Wim van Hooff was responsible for the concept of color, the article reflects the impact of color on the architectonical ideas of the building that are described by van der Laan himself and proposes the idea of a typology based application of colour in architecture.
