School extension

Invited competition

in collaboration with K3 Architects

The competition asks for an extension of a school, built in the 1970s by my grandfather Hans Kramer. While the site is characterized by heterogeneous spatial qualities, the extension creates a clear spatial structure with a courtyard as the new square of the school. This courtyard connects the existing classrooms and the auditorium together as well as the new classrooms and offices. The different annexes structure the landscape of the schoolyard. The extension is made with red bricks using different colors for each part of the building as a reference to the local brick culture.
