Barßel

Town hall

Competition

in collaboration with K3 Architects

The city of Barßel is a small town in the north of Germany. The competition asked for a new design for the town hall with offices and a community center. The old town of the city consists of brick houses that where basically owned by seamen. Today, unfortunately the structure of the city is still visible and readable but has been transformed. The image though is determined by tiny brick houses. The main street of the town has a very interesting structure following the plots and the terrain. The concept for the new town hall refers to the existing structure and a setback from the main street creates a communal square for celebrations or a local market. The composition consists of two different parts, the community center and the office building.
